Late Night Painting: Creating New Acrylic Work in the Studio
Wincester Artist, Jenny Muncaster, Still Life Painting in Acrylic
I’ve been quietly (and very excitedly!) preparing for something special — an upcoming group show with my fellow artists here at The Colour Factory. We’ve all been beavering away in our studios, finding those extra hours to create brand new work, and the energy has been wonderful.
I’ve found myself working late into the night when the studio is quiet and no one else is around — such a perfect time to paint. I’ll put the radio on, usually Radio 4, or settle in with a podcast. I admit I’m a sucker for true crime documentaries and psychological thrillers! Whatever ‘s on in the background, those calm, uninterrupted hours feel so important. Painting without distraction helps me concentrate, slow down, and really think about what I’m trying to achieve in each piece. There’s something incredibly powerful and special about giving yourself that time to be fully immersed in your own creativity.
I’m especially happy to be back painting some of my favourite compositions in acrylic. I’ve been bringing my favourite things to life through colourful still life — seasonal ingredients, flowers, and little personal stories tucked into the details.
I’m really enjoying creating these new acrylic canvases, and I’ll be sharing more details about when and where the show will be in my next newsletter. Very exciting… but for now, I’d better get a wriggle on — there are still plenty of blank canvases waiting to be filled with colour. Watch this space..!
