A Week of Colour, Creativity & Connection in the Pyrenees
Every September, I get to escape to one of my favourite places on earth — Atelier Clos Mirabel in the French Pyrenees — for a week that’s pure creative joy. This year was no exception!
From the moment we arrived, it was all laughter, sunshine, and that wonderful feeling of stepping out of everyday life into something slower, deeper, and infinitely more colourful. The days were filled with art, good food, and the most inspiring company — a group of lovely, open-hearted people who threw themselves into every creative challenge with enthusiasm (and plenty of humour).
In the studio, we explored all things mixed media — acrylics, inks, charcoal, collage, and even a touch of gold foil for good measure! There were splashes, smudges, layers, and happy accidents galore. Every piece told a different story, and by the end of the week, the studio walls were alive with vibrant, textured works of art.
What I love most about these retreats is how much growth happens when you simply give yourself permission to play. When you stop chasing perfection, your confidence builds, ideas flow, and your own creative voice starts to shine through. It’s the most liberating feeling — and such a joy to witness in others.
Of course, the setting doesn’t hurt either! With views over the vineyards and the Pyrenees in the distance, every sunset feels like a painting waiting to happen. Add in delicious meals, great conversation, and a few glasses of wine at the end of each day, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for inspiration.
If this sounds like your idea of heaven, I’d love for you to join me on my next painting holiday at Clos Mirabel in September 2026. It’s another week of colour, creativity and connection in the most inspiring of settings — and there are only a few places left!
